The Luberon
With its Authenticity and Provençal art of living, the Luberon is part of an exceptional territory in the South East of France. The Luberon massif is a low-lying mountain range that stretches from east to west between the Alpes de Haute Provence and the department of Vaucluse.
The Luberon is worth a detour, for the beauty of its landscapes and its hilltop villages (five of which are classified as some the most beautiful villages in France: Ansouis, Lourmarin, Ménerbes, Rousillon and Gordes), Rustrel, Cucuron, Saignon, Bonnieux, Oppède, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Pernes les Fontaines, Lacoste… and many others.
Go visit the castles, the churches, the cemeteries (that of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is beautifully decorated), roam the ocher lands, walk the narrow streets of the perched villages, stroll through the highly colored markets, or sit on the terrace of a cafe to watch the scenes of life.
The Luberon also offers a great diversity of local products, such as olives, lavender, honey, melon, truffles, wine, candied fruit …
The discovery of the Luberon is endless, it’s up to you to live and write your experience.
You will appreciate all the charm of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue as you stroll through its narrow streets and along the canals, you will discover the paddle wheels dressed in moss by time.
In the heart of the city, come and visit the beautiful Notre-Dame des Anges collegiate church with its baroque interior, dating from the 17th century.
Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is now internationally renowned thanks to the antique fairs which take place twice a year and the numerous antique shops, open all year round from Friday to Monday.
On Thursdays and Sundays, savor the authentic and colorful Provencal market which stretches along the canals and in the city, one of the largest and oldest markets in Provence.
